Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated: November 6, 2026

BookFoundry.ai respects the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, creators and other rights holders, and expects its users to do the same.

What Users May Upload and Create

You may upload, import, generate, edit, translate and otherwise process material only when you own it or have the rights, permissions or other lawful basis needed for what you ask us to do. Your books are private in your account unless you choose to publish or share them.

How to Report Infringement

If you believe that material available through or processed by BookFoundry.ai infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
  • Identification of the material you believe is infringing, with enough information for us to locate it (for example a public link, the book title shown on BookFoundry, or the author name).
  • Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

You do not need a BookFoundry account to send a notice. Incomplete notices may delay our review.

What Happens Next

We review each notice under the laws that apply, including the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) where applicable, Canada's Copyright Act, and the EU Digital Services Act where applicable. When we receive a notice, we may immediately remove, disable access to or restrict the material and suspend the account concerned while we review it, and we may notify the affected user and send them a copy of the notice.

We do not disclose a user's private books or account information to a complainant merely because a notice was submitted. We disclose information only when the law requires or permits it.

How to Respond to a Removal

If your account or content was suspended after a report and you believe this was a mistake, or that you have the right to use the material, email [email protected] with the subject "Copyright reply" and explain why, with any evidence you have.

The suspension stays in place until we have verified the matter. If we find the report was not justified, we restore your account and content.

Repeat Infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others.

False or Misleading Notices

Knowingly submitting a materially false or misleading notice or counter-notice may make you liable for damages, and may lead us to restrict your access to the service.

Lawful Uses

Nothing in this policy restricts lawful uses of copyrighted works, including fair use, fair dealing, licences and the public domain. Nothing in this policy limits BookFoundry.ai's mandatory legal obligations.
